Alison Carey
About this Service
My name is Alison, I am a psychotherapist with over fourteen years experience working in mental health. My initial career was working in residential centres for adults with complex mental health needs, changing field over three years ago receiving a masters degree as a psychotherapist, working both in private practice and online. I have worked in Ireland with clients with a range of personal struggles including depression, anxiety, body-image issues, borderline and histrionic personality disorders, schizophrenia, bipolar, Tourette’s syndrome, relationship issues and confusion around their life’s path.
My therapy style is empathic, person-centred and collaborative. I believe in the therapeutic relationship being transparent and authentic, built on trust and integrity in order to form a strong therapeutic alliance with my client. My approach is integrative with an existential leaning, using cognitive-behavioural and humanistic therapy focusing on person-centred approaches. I will also draw from different modalities as best to treat you and what need you need help with, tailoring my skills to support you in where you are within your journey.
I like to refer to therapy as a journey as that it what it is; A journey to regain your inner strength, reignite your spirit and empower you from the inside out.
I am very much looking forward to hearing from you.
