About this Service
I have been working as a mental health counsellor for a few years now. Training in Integrative Psychotherapy and working with culturally sensitive environment has equipped me to help clients with a wide range of mental health issues and trauma (Child Sexual Abuse, domestic abuse, and others). My work as a counsellor has included working with anxiety, depression, loss, isolation, and trauma including abuse of different natures. Currently, I am working with victims and survivors of domestic violence within an organisation. I see clients from diverse communities and ages. Belonging to a complex culture myself, makes it natural and easier for me to relate and understand culturally complex, sensitive, and diverse issues that different individuals face. Most of my work has been relational and integrates evidence-based therapies, following on individual needs. The modalities I follow include humanistic, psychodynamic, CBT and other forms of therapy. I believe that therapeutic relationship holds a lot of power in the room and can be a major contributing factor towards the healing for clients. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. My style of therapy is very open and integrative. I focus on body-mind processes in therapy and also focus on how a person’s early relationship dynamics are contributing to their present life. I look at it as a process of awareness and transformation. It is more like looking at how a client’s relationship dynamics are designed and how they manifest in their present life. As I explore this space with clients, I also like to focus on their strengths and how the difficulties they face can be overcome. Therapy is a journey taken both by therapist and client. I believe in an equal space shared by two humans. Again, the most important thing in the room is client’s needs and goals and therefore, I like to keep my therapy very client centered. If you are thinking about starting therapy with me, I welcome you. The first step to sign up for therapy can take courage and can be extremely difficult. I am proud of you for getting started!
