Work With Me!

About this Service

I practice the person-centred approach offering the client to be their own leader on their experiences. I view the client as being fully capable of fulfilling their own potential for growth in a safe and comfortable way.

I stay out of judgment. Recognizing emotion in other people. Communicating that emotion I use my empathy to help connect feelings with people. Empathy requires creativity, active listening, and deep thinking. The ability to feel or imagine another person’s emotional experience is a skill that I apply and use with my clients.

I offer mutal counselling that is transparent and the client is able to build their confidence and trust in me. Clients may be wary about opening up with a new counsellor, and this is a natural reaction that develops into a more positive and rewarding experience.

Most of my experience has developed from counselling children and young people for over 6 years, where I provided a safe, comforting working relationship that has given me a greater insight into the difficulties that children and young people face. I also have experience counselling adults.

In addition, I have also volunteered for a mental health and well-being support line during COVID-19.

I trained for my qualification starting right at the introduction level and achieved my level 4 Diploma in 2015. Since then, I have attended various courses to support my CPD. Listed below is some of my CPD learning :

– A mind-body approach to race-based stress and trauma
– The impact of childhood trauma on the brain
– Becoming safely embodied: essential trauma treatment strategies
– The impact of childhood trauma on the brain: critical insights from neuroscience

I am also qualified up to Level 2 in British Sign Language; I am currently learning Level 3 to be able to communicate more effectively with the deaf and hard of hearing more consistently. I consider this to be a great skill to have as a counsellor.
